What a legend.

In case you haven’t seen this video before, allow me to explain, this is the new viral video from Tipp-Ex, that I think is rather cool. The video seems to be just the same as any other YouTube video, only difference being the change which occurs once the bear appears on the scene.

On arrival of the grizzly, after some rather tasty integration of the video and the banner on the right, the video becomes interactive, as the user decides the fate of the hunter and the bear. The audience can enter almost any verb they can think of which will complete the sentence: A hunter ______ a bear.

As viral videos go, I’d say it’s pretty successful. I’ve not got access to any of their analytics, but at the time of publishing, it had over 9 million views. Not only that but I’ve received it one way or another over 5 times and I’ve yet to meet someone who could resist entering at least one verb. With regards to reach and customer interaction it’s a beauty, does it make me want to buy Tipp-Ex, maybe not. That said, if you ask me to name another brand of corrective fluid, I don’t think I could, so maybe it’s served it’s purpose in terms of aiding brand recall.

The film was created by Parisian agency, Buzzman. I’ve got to say, awesome viral goodness aside, I really like their credo. They’ve used a quote from Bob Thacker, senior VP-marketing and advertising at OfficeMax, who says:

” The secret is respecting the consumer. You are interrupting their life. All advertising is unwanted, so if you’re going to crash the party, bring some champagne with you.”

Love it.
